Not so much religion, but rather ideology. You are right in the anti-wokeness point as well - having religeous/ideological tendencies - those individuals use it as one of their tools.
I do believe the wokeness side does invoke elements of what religion is meant to preach (but rarely practices), at least in its early roots. Being compassionate, empathetic and thoughtful - sadly this has been lost, corrupted and diluted as their message expanded - much like Christianity, or most other abrahamic religions.
